ROOTSCAMP, RootsCamp, Roots Camp, roots camp —no matter how you write it out, it means the same to many progressive organizers who have been part of one in the past. Many folks have expressed interest in hosting one after the 2024 elections. As a lead organizer and fiscal sponsor of the last Roots Camp, held after the 2020 elections, GAIN Power is leaping in again to help bring the community of organizers who worked on the elections together, to talk about what happened, and to chart our way forward. We can’t do this alone. We won’t do this alone. Rootcamp has always been a collective community event, and we need it to be again.
On Monday, November 25th, we’re organizing the first group call to bring interested folks together to be part of a RootsCamp planning committee.
GAIN Power is organizing a broad effort to support Talent In Transition, many of whom lost their jobs after the elections—or will soon. Since 2004, first as Democratic GAIN and now as GAIN Power, we’ve worked to provide community, a support network, programs, professional development, and career advice to keep people doing our critical movement work. Root Camp is a natural part of this work. We’re recruiting leaders to be part of our Talent Task Force, and we invite you to be part of this if you want to be on a RootCamp Committee or participate in other ways. It takes a large village to do this work; we hope you’ll be part of it. There are many ways to contribute. Join our Zoom on Monday to find out how to do it.
If you want to join but aren’t available Monday, we’ll update you on how to engage. This will be the first, not the last, meeting. And keep following us here!
